We left Bellingham this morning at 8:15. The "snowbird" adventure begins. After a 45 minute stop in Olympia, we headed south. We are pleased to report that our worst nightmare DID NOT come true. The cat meowed loudly for 1 1/2 hours and then just wore herself out. We took her in the house in Olympia and after getting back in the car there was not another sound. In fact, we opened the carrier and she navigated from that to my lap several times during the day.

We are presently in Eugene and she refuses to come out from under the bed, but things could be worse. I think she has reached her limit today and little does she know that we have 2 more days of this.

Tomorrow it is Eugene to Stockton, CA - 8 1/2 hour drive not including stops.

Today's biggest "OH,OH"....we unload the car in front of the hotel and then Matt went to park the car. He noticed an underground parking garage and headed that way. You can probably imagine what happened next! He failed to remember the bike on top of the car on his fancy new bike rack. CRUNCH! He bent the rack that comes on top of the car, bent his handlebars and broke his light off the front of the bike. This looks like it could be an expensive OOPS! He got it fixed the best he could and the bike will be headed to the bike shop in Palm Springs.

  3. What's the deal Matt? Seems your "I forgot xxxx was on top of the car incidents are escalating with more dire consequences. For God's sake, don't even think of putting the cat carrier up there!

    Have a save drive.....

  5. Well, we do know about driving with a "high" load and forgetting how tall you are! Hopefully your damage will be minimal. Good news about the cat! Drive carefully and be report the weather when you arrive tomorrow!
